services for never married parents

In Colorado, parents who were never married initiate the legal process to establish parenting rights and responsibilities by filing a Petition for Allocation of Parental Responsibility (APR) or paternity action.  In the process, parents must develop a parenting plan, to include their agreements on parenting time, how major decisions for their children will be made, and all financial issues including child support.  COCD services for these parents include:

  • Legal Education
  • Co-Parent Planning and Preparation
  • Mediation of the Parenting Plan
  • Mediation of all child-related financial issues (including child support)
  • Legal Document Drafting
  • Parent and Child Counseling
  • Parents can choose to have their final court hearing at COCD
