The Center for Out-Of-Court Divorce (COCD) team was thrilled to join Wendy Paris, author of Splitopia: Dispatches from Today’s Good Divorce and How to Part Well, at the Tattered Cover on Tuesday, April 5, for a book signing. As a former print and electronic journalist covering relationships, culture, dating and marriage, Paris is passionate about helping families make healthy, positive choices throughout the course of a divorce – and beyond.
During the event, Paris read excerpts of her new book and discussed her personal experience of going through a divorce and her resulting co-parenting relationship, as well as her ideas on how we can embrace a more empowering mindset about divorce. A lively discussion with the audience followed, exploring the good, the bad and the ugly of traditional attitudes about divorce. There was a general consensus among attendees that there must be a better way for families to care for themselves throughout the challenging transition of ending a partnership or marriage.
Paris also spoke about her support of The Center for Out-of-Court Divorce and the mission to provide a family-centered approach for couples that want to end their partnership or marriage. She mentioned being grateful to be able to witness an organization such as COCD that can provide compassionate, holistic separation or divorce resolution for families.
