The time and cost of separating or divorcing can be extensive. According to MSN’s recent article, Best and Worst States to Get a Low-Cost Divorce, which is based on a recent GOBankingRates survey, the average cost of divorce is between $15,000 – $20,000. Of course the costs associated with getting a divorce vary by state and depend largely on divorce lawyer fees.
The survey determined that Colorado is the 39th most expensive state in which to divorce. As Hunter Metcalf at IAALS notes in his recent blog post, Which States Are Best for a Low-Cost Divorce?, the Center for Out-Of-Court Divorce provides resources to Colorado couples with children that can potentially reduce both the time and expense involved in getting a divorce or separating.
The Center for Out-Of-Court Divorce works with each family to create a tailor-made approach specific to their unique situation and needs, including working with same-sex couples and those that have never married. For more information, contact us.
